Brazil’s BNDES grants €6.1m loan to boost biomethane production
Brazil’s National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has approved a loan of approximately BRL 37.6 million (around €6.1 million) to support the expansion of biomethane production infrastructure in the country.
The funding is part of BNDES’s ongoing strategy to back renewable energy initiatives and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by promoting cleaner alternatives to fossil fuels.
According to the bank, the initiative will not only help diversify Brazil’s energy mix but also contribute to the country’s commitments to sustainable development and climate targets.
By investing in biomethane, BNDES hopes to leverage Brazil’s abundant biomass resources to drive innovation and boost the bioenergy sector.
The project is also expected to generate local employment opportunities and support regional economic development through the advancement of clean technology.
This loan underscores Brazil’s growing emphasis on energy security and environmental responsibility, as the country continues to transition towards a low-carbon economy.
