Arigna Group wins Bio Achievement of the Year at 2025 All-Island Bioeconomy Awards

Arigna Group has been awarded Bio Achievement of the Year at the All-Island Bioeconomy Awards 2025.

The award marks a milestone in Arigna Group’s journey of transformation - from a legacy in traditional carbon-intensive industries to becoming a leader in renewable solutions and green technologies, including sustainable biochar production.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award,” said Brendan Layden, managing director of Arigna Group, who accepted the accolade from Alan Dillon TD, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications with Special Responsibility for Circular Economy.

“This recognition reflects the hard work of our entire team and our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation.”

Arigna Group's transformation is rooted in over a century of history.

Based in a region once synonymous with coal mining, the company has redefined its identity through groundbreaking work in biochar, a carbon-rich material that supports soil regeneration and carbon sequestration.

The organisation's work aligns with key goals in Ireland’s National Bioeconomy Action Plan and supports broader EU climate and sustainability targets.

The All-Island Bioeconomy Summit 2025, which took place at The Johnstown Estate, celebrated leadership and achievement in the growing bioeconomy sector and was held in the presence of key industry figures and policymakers.
