Woody biomass plant set to open in New Hampshire, US
A new woody biomass plant in New Hampshire, US is scheduled to begin operating by the middle of December this year.
The Burgess Biopower plant cost around $275 million (€203 million) to develop and is designed to produce 75 megawatts of electricity per year.
Plant developer Cate Street Capital says the facility will burn approximately 750,000 tonnes of low-grade wood per year and help support several hundred jobs for foresters, loggers and chippers.
Development began at the site in 2011 following the closure of a Fraser Papers pulp mill in 2006.
