Vogelsang introduces compact MixXPump feed system for biogas plants

Biogas equipment manufacturer Vogelsang has launched the MixXPump, a new feed system designed to improve flexibility and efficiency in anaerobic digestion (AD) plants.
The MixXPump is a compact, flat unit intended for easy integration into existing feed systems, particularly where space or layout constraints limit installation options.
At its core is Vogelsang’s HiCone progressive cavity pump, which has been developed to extend operating life and reduce the frequency of parts replacement.
Jonathan Gutteridge, Managing Director at Vogelsang, said the MixXPump adds a practical option for handling solid feedstocks such as maize silage or dry animal feed.
“The feed system plays a crucial role in determining gas yield and energy consumption in AD plants. The MixXPump’s design allows operators to install it more easily within existing systems and optimise feedstock preparation,” he said.
The HiCone pump conveys prepared solid matter as a suspension into the digesters. Its conical rotor–stator geometry allows operators to adjust for wear on the conveying elements, reducing downtime and maintenance requirements.
When replacement of components is required, Vogelsang’s QuickService design allows maintenance to be carried out within a few hours, minimising disruption to the fermentation process.
The MixXPump joins Vogelsang’s wider range of feed systems aimed at supporting AD operators in improving performance and reliability across biogas production facilities.
