VisionEdgeOne (VE1) has completed its investment in Italian biomethane platform RE2Sources, becoming a joint-controlling co-investor alongside European mid-market infrastructure manager Arjun Infrastructure Partners.
The investment was made on behalf of investors in the VisionEdgeOne Infrastructure Partnership platform.
RE2Sources operates six anaerobic digestion waste plants in Italy, with an annual processing capacity of 220,000 tonnes of municipal waste.
The facilities produce 200 GWh of biomethane, which is injected directly into the national gas grid as renewable gas, alongside sustainable fertiliser and biogenic CO₂.
VE1 targets the biomethane sector as part of its strategy to invest in mid-market businesses that contribute to sustainable infrastructure.
Boe Pahari, Chairman of VisionEdgeOne, said: “We welcome the completion of this investment in RE2Sources, which we believe represents a highly attractive opportunity in the biomethane space. It supports the energy transition, Europe’s energy security, and provides a solution for waste management. This aligns perfectly with VE1’s strategy of investing in assets with strong infrastructure characteristics and growth potential.”
Surinder Toor, Managing Partner at Arjun, added: “We are pleased to have VE1 as co-shareholders in this asset. RE2Sources is a true circular economy platform, addressing key domestic needs in both energy supply and waste processing. We look forward to continuing to grow the business in the coming years.”
The transaction was supported by Sidley Austin and Chiomenti (legal), FTI Consulting (finance and tax), and Aon (insurance) for VE1, and Ashurst (legal) and Alvarez & Marsal (tax) for Arjun.
