Uniper and Five Bioenergy sign long-term biomethane supply agreement

Uniper, a German energy company, and Spanish developer Five Bioenergy have signed a seven-year agreement for the purchase of biomethane from three of Spain’s largest biomethane plants, located in Murcia. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2027.

The deal strengthens Uniper’s position in the low-carbon energy sector, enabling the company to complement the growing share of renewables and accelerate the decarbonisation of both road and maritime transport.

As part of its strategy to import renewable and low-carbon gases, Uniper is expanding its portfolio, with hydrogen, its derivatives, and biomethane playing a key role in a sustainable energy mix.
