The power of technology for biomass-to-power optimisation
ABB recently announced it had secured its ninth contract with TOYO Engineering Corporation in Japan to supply its distributed control system (DCS) ABB Ability™ Symphony® Plus, to the Wakayama Gobo Biomass Power Plant.
It is being developed on behalf of Enewill (formerly JAG Energy), Osaka Gas and SMFL MIRAI Partners.
The 50 MW biomass power plant will use wood pellets and agricultural byproduct as a feedstock and is expected to be capable of supplying enough power for up to 110,000 Japanese households a year.
Bioenergy Insight asked Spencer to introduce ABB’s technology.
“ABB Ability Symphony Plus is ABB’s flagship Distributed Control System (DCS) for the power and water industries, including bioenergy markets,” he said.
“As a core part of ABB’s future vision, Symphony Plus’s flexible, scalable architecture and extended digital ecosystem are designed to maximise plant efficiency and...
