Tahoe biomass plant proposal rejected
In California, US, a proposal seeking permission to build a biomass-fired power plant near to Lake Tahoe has been declined after Joanne Marchetta, executive director of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), dubbed the location 'unworkable'.
The proposal generated complaints from a huge number of locals, concerned about the environmental and social impacts of the project.
However, the idea of building a biomass power plant in the county is still looked upon favourably and place county supervisor Jennifer Montgomery says that a more suitable location must be identified, as a biomass plant would be a positive move for the county.
