South African biogas project sets completion marker

The first commercial biogas plant in South Africa is nearing construction in Bronkhorstspruit.

Project development company Bio2Watt will build, own and operate the 3MW capacity facility, which it aims to have online by the end of spring 2014 latest.

The Bronkhorstspruit location allegedly provides the project with proximity to key fuel supplies, grid access and sufficient water supplied by one of the largest feedlots storm water collection dams.

The biogas plant will provide direct and indirect employment for approximately 30 people.
