HCS A/S has sold its Hashøj Biogas facility to Shell Biogas (former Nature Energy), marking the end of more than 30 years of operation at the site.
Hashøj Biogas, located in West Zealand, has been one of Denmark’s oldest and best-functioning biogas plants.
HCS, one of the country's largest transport, waste and environmental companies, employs around 500 staff across domestic and international operations. It acquired the facility in 2019 and has since overseen its operations.
Plesner acted as legal adviser to HCS on the transaction, which will see the existing plant closed to make way for a new biogas facility
The sale involved complex legal and operational considerations, including biogas project development, expansion planning, mergers and acquisitions procedures, supplier management, and engagement with public authorities.
