Serbia launches biomass heating plant in Novi Pazar

A newly-built biomass heating plant worth €6.5m was put into operation in Novi Pazar, in southwestern Serbia, the country's energy ministry said.
The construction of the plant was financed by German development bank KfW, with support from Switzerland, the energy ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Tuesday.
The project is part of a partnership with KfW Bank and 22 public utility companies under which up to 30 district heating plants in Serbia will be built, rehabilitated, modernised and converted from fossil fuels to biomass.
