Redexis to invest more than €34 million in three biomethane plants in Aragon

Two of the facilities will be built in the province of Teruel, in the towns of Alcañiz and Cella, while the third will be located in Fraga, in the province of Huesca.
The projects are being led by Biored Alcañiz, Biored Cella and Biored Fraga - subsidiaries of the Redexis group - and are expected to be operational by 2027.
Construction is set to begin in the coming months, with a planned execution period of 20 months.
Each plant will produce biomethane using anaerobic digestion. The feedstock will primarily come from nearby agricultural and agri-food sector sources.
The resulting biomethane will be injected into the existing natural gas distribution network, contributing to the decarbonisation of the region’s energy supply.
In addition to renewable gas, the process will generate digestate, a by-product that can be treated and used as fertiliser.
The liquid fraction of the digestate will be applied directly in agriculture, while the solid portion will be processed at composting facilities or used in other agricultural applications.
The initiative is also expected to create local employment. Redexis has indicated that the three plants will generate 27 direct jobs and approximately 51 indirect roles, according to the company’s submission for recognition as a regional investment of strategic interest.
