Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB), a leading biogas producer in Poland, has inaugurated its 21st biogas plant in Gogolin, located in the Opole Voivodeship.
The facility, with an electrical capacity of 1 megawatt (MW), is expected to generate approximately 8.8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, sufficient to supply around 3,000 households.
The Gogolin plant employs anaerobic digestion technology to convert organic waste into biogas.
This biogas is then utilised in a combined heat and power (CHP) system to produce renewable electricity and heat.
The facility also includes wood-drying chambers, offering sustainable solutions for local industries.
With the addition of the Gogolin plant, PGB's total installed capacity reaches 22 MW, contributing to an annual production of nearly 192 GWh of electricity.
This output supports approximately 69,000 Polish homes, reinforcing the country's renewable energy infrastructure.
PGB, established in 2007, is partially owned by TotalEnergies and Norwegian investment firm HitecVision.
