Indian waste-to-energy company Organic Recycling Systems Limited (ORSL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Immersive Technology and Entrepreneurship Labs Foundation (ITEL) of Chennai to accelerate research, development and commercialisation in bioenergy and decarbonisation technologies.
The agreement establishes a framework for joint R&D programmes, consultancy projects, training initiatives, and collaborative funding proposals to national and international agencies including the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council and the Department of Science and Technology.
ITEL will gain access to ORSL's Research and Innovation Centre in Navi Mumbai for joint experimentation and pilot validation work.
ORSL said the collaboration would focus on commercialisation pathways, intellectual property development, and technology licensing, with an emphasis on translating pilot studies into replicable projects across bioenergy and compressed biogas (CBG), carbon capture and utilisation, and green chemicals aligned with circular economy principles.
The company is currently transitioning research outcomes towards full-scale commercial deployment and sees the partnership as a route to building new revenue streams from technology licensing while strengthening its service offerings for biogas and waste processing facilities.
The ITEL agreement forms part of a broader academic and industry partnership strategy that already includes collaborations with IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, and the University of Birmingham.
ORSL said such partnerships were designed to bridge academia and industry and accelerate the scale-up of climate technologies by combining technical validation with commercial expertise.
