Municipal waste facility for California

Recycling and waste to energy firm, Ecolutio, has entered into an agreement to develop an advanced municipal waste handling system in Lancaster, California.

The new facility will reportedly feature the company's patented GreenStream technology.

It will reduce local waste, generate fuels, produce large supplies of green-certified recycled materials and help the city take another step towards its aim of becoming 'Green Capital of the World.'

Ecolutio's GreenStream system is able to separate up to 20 types of recyclable material from the municipal waste stream, after which the facility will then process the separated organic matter into biofuels and electricity, using anaerobic digestion and gasificaton.

Once completed, the facility will create approximately 200 jobs and help the city divert 85% of waste away from landfill.
