Mobius Renewables targets EU and North American biomethane growth

Infrastructure investor IFM Investors has launched Mobius Renewables, a new Texas-based, vertically integrated low carbon fuels platform focused on scaling the production and commercialisation of biomethane across North America and Europe.
The new company will be headquartered in Houston and led by Cynthia Walker, who has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mobius Renewables has been established to accelerate the development, production, distribution and market adoption of biomethane derived from landfill gas and anaerobic digestion, positioning biomass-based fuels as a core component of future low-carbon energy systems.
Mobius Renewables brings together IFM’s existing biomethane platform GreenGasUSA, alongside planned acquisitions of operating biomethane facilities and development opportunities originated by Mobius Fuels.
Once fully assembled, the platform is expected to reach more than 5.5 million MMBtu per year of biomethane production and distribution capacity, making it one of the largest producers of biomethane globally.
The launch underlines IFM’s long-term commitment to the low carbon fuels sector, with Mobius Renewables prioritising operational excellence, disciplined growth and a combination of organic development and targeted acquisitions.
“We are building Mobius Renewables to set a new standard for scale, reliability and partnership in the biomethane industry,” said Cynthia Walker.
“Our mission is to convert waste into an infrastructure-grade renewable fuel with global relevance. With IFM’s backing and the reach of our expanding platform, we are well positioned to help partners unlock the full value of their resources while advancing sustainability.”
Mobius Renewables enters the market as biomethane continues to evolve from a localised waste-to-energy solution into a globally traded, infrastructure-grade fuel.
The company plans to expand demand across transport, marine fuels, power generation, gas utilities and industrial applications, supporting decarbonisation efforts in North America, Europe and Asia, including the greening of global LNG supply chains.
Julio Garcia, Head of Infrastructure, North America at IFM Investors, said the launch reflects strong confidence in the sector’s fundamentals.
“We see durable long-term demand for low carbon fuels, underpinned by a sustained supply–demand imbalance. Cynthia’s leadership brings deep operational and strategic experience that will support our growth plans and long-term investment strategy,” he commented.
Prior to joining Mobius Renewables, Walker founded and led Mobius Fuels LLC, a US renewable natural gas developer and operator.
