Group formed to fight biomass plant

An action group has been formed in a bid to fight against a proposed biomass plant.

Proposed for the former Oran Recycling site at Lambhill Farm in the UK, Lambhill Energy is planning to construct a renewable energy plant.

However, the Blairingone Action Group believes that the development poses serious health and safety risks for the local residents and is insisting that the project be upgraded from a 'local' development to a 'major' development.

Plans for the proposed facility include a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, which would use wood chips to produce electricity and thermal energy, in addition to a wood shavings production facility for animal bedding.

Should the plans go ahead, between 12 and 18 jobs would be created.
