Advisory firm greenValue GmbH has supported Balance Erneuerbare Energien GmbH in the acquisition of a biogas plant portfolio across three eastern German states, conducting technical due diligence across the assets ahead of a planned modernisation programme.
The acquired facilities, located in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, have a combined thermal input capacity of 46 MW.
Four of the sites feed electricity directly into local grid operator networks, while heat is distributed to end consumers via district heating infrastructure.
The plant in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania additionally operates a biogas upgrading facility with a biomethane output capacity of 1,366 Nm³ per hour.
"On behalf of Balance Erneuerbare Energien, we conducted the technical due diligence of the biogas plants within the portfolio," said Daniel Kellermann, managing director of greenValue.
"Together with Balance's specialist departments, we assessed the opportunities and risks for future operations. The insights gained during the due diligence process open up opportunities for successful continued operation in the years ahead."
Balance Erneuerbare Energien is a subsidiary of Leipzig-based VNG AG and infrastructure investor CVC DIF, focusing on project development and equity participation in biogas and biomethane projects.
The company currently employs around 200 people.
Nuremberg-based greenValue, founded in 2002, specialises in renewable energy consulting and M&A advisory, with expertise spanning biogas, biomethane, wind, photovoltaics, green hydrogen, and bio-LNG.
