Gasrec launches advanced biomethane site at Hams Hall

Gasrec has officially opened its second large-scale, open-access biomethane refuelling facility.
The new state-of-the-art site at Hams Hall, located near the M6 and M42, is now operational and ready to serve fleet operators looking to switch to sustainable fuels.
Gas-powered trucks from DHL, Nestlé, Arla Foods and Nicholls Transport were among the first to refuel at the facility. Current capacity allows up to 300 trucks to refuel on Bio-LNG each day, with plans to expand this to 1,000 trucks daily in the coming years.
James Westcott, Chief Commercial Officer of Gasrec, said: “Hams Hall represents a milestone for the industry and for operators who want to reduce emissions without compromising reliability. We are experiencing record demand for biomethane from fleets, and this new facility provides the scale and resilience they need.”
Hams Hall is the first in a planned network of public biomethane stations across the UK. Over the next 18 months, Gasrec will open further facilities in Warrington, Avonmouth, and additional locations yet to be confirmed.
These new stations will complement Gasrec’s flagship site at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) and the company’s other accessible Bio-LNG facilities nationwide. Gasrec is also exploring new Bio-CNG offerings to meet local demand.
Currently, Gasrec operates 18 refuelling stations, including both Bio-LNG and Bio-CNG sites, serving some of the UK’s largest fleets, such as Asda, Tesco, B&Q, DHL and Ocado, as well as a growing number of small and medium-sized operators.
Westcott added: “Our network is expanding rapidly. With Hams Hall now operational, we’re not only easing pressure on existing sites but also laying the foundations for a national refuelling infrastructure that can support operators of all sizes in moving to cleaner, greener fuels.”
