GAIL to build compressed biogas plant in Ranchi, India

GAIL and Ranchi Municipal Corporation have signed an agreement to build a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Ranchi, India.

Under the agreement, GAIL will set up a CBG plant to process 150 tons per day of organic municipal solid waste. The facility will produce five tons of CBG per day and approximately 25 tons of bio-manure. It is hoped the plant will benefit the community by producing clean, green fuel.

GAIL is a major natural gas company in India and operates a network of 13,340 kilometres of natural gas pipelines across the country. In addition to natural gas, the company is expanding its presence in renewable energy, exploring biofuels, solar, and wind.
