EAG Bioenergy acquires North Lincolnshire biomethane plant

EAG Bioenergy has acquired Rockscape Energy, a North Lincolnshire-based anaerobic digestion (AD) biomethane plant with an annual production capacity exceeding 40GWh.
The acquisition forms part of its strategy to build the leading independent biogas and biomethane platform in the UK and Ireland.
Backed by Vesper Infrastructure Partners and OrbeNovo Capital, EAG said the deal strengthens its position in the English market and creates a platform for future capacity expansion at the site.
Operational since 2014, the Rockscape plant processes around 65,000 tonnes of agricultural and organic waste each year, producing green gas and electricity for the grid, while supporting local decarbonisation and energy security.
The company plans to invest in a significant upgrade to boost biomethane production from waste for direct injection into the gas grid.
The acquisition complements EAG’s existing portfolio of biogas and biofertiliser operations, which are being expanded through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Chris Kerr, founder and chief executive of EAG Bioenergy, said: “We are delighted to welcome this plant and the highly capable operating team at the site in North Lincolnshire into the EAG platform. This is a high-performing site with a strong operational track record, and we are excited to invest in its future expansion. The transaction represents a meaningful step forward in building EAG into a significant bioenergy platform, as well as increasing our ongoing contribution to UK and Ireland decarbonisation goals.”
Rockscape Energy chief executive Ross Hewson said: “We are extremely proud of the work we’ve accomplished at Rockscape Energy over the last 12 years and believe that EAG Bioenergy are the best fit to take the company forward on the next stage of its development.
"On behalf of the senior management group and its owners I would like to thank the entire team for setting the highest of standards and showing such dedication to create a leading light in this field. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this transition in the months and years to come.”
EAG said it continues to evaluate further mergers, acquisitions and development opportunities, and welcomed engagement from stakeholders across the bioenergy sector.
