BioticNRG acquires Somerset AD plant to expand UK bioenergy portfolio

The Evercreech site has a gas injection capacity of 700m³/hr, supplying the equivalent of up to 8,000 homes with green gas via the National Gas grid. The plant processes local food waste, offering an alternative to landfill disposal for regional food producers.
Ed Bastow, chief executive of BioticNRG, said Evercreech was "an excellent strategic fit" with the company's existing AD plants in the South West, allowing it to expand operations and pool resources across the region.
Stephen Burns, managing director of Palisade Real Assets, which manages BioticNRG's investments, said the acquisition built on BioticNRG's position as a leading owner and operator in the UK anaerobic digestion sector and aligned with the platform's "desire to be a solution to the UK's food waste challenge."
Alongside its nine owned AD plants, BioticNRG provides full site management services for four third-party AD facilities and owns five PAS:100-certified compost sites across the Midlands and East of England. Its sites operate as both gas-to-grid facilities, supplying biomethane and biogenic CO₂, and as combined heat and power (CHP) sites generating green electricity for local businesses and the grid.
BioticNRG is backed by APG Asset Management, acting on behalf of Dutch pension fund ABP, one of the largest pension funds globally.
