Biomass plant closes due to bomb threat

Southern Power has closed its Texas, US-based biomass-fired power plant following a bomb threat on 21 November.

The company made the decision to shut the facility after a threatening note was found written inside a Portaloo.

The plant will remain closed until after Thanksgiving, which will lead to a loss for $1.1 million (€800,000) for the company.

Authorities are investigating the threat, even though the note was already out of date when it was discovered.

Police are searching for the suspect, who has not been named, and they will be charged with disorderly conduct when found.
