Biogeen acquires two biomethane plants in Bavaria

news item image
Biogeen, a Germany-based renewable energy specialist, has expanded its foothold in the Bavarian energy market with the acquisition of two biomethane production sites.

The facilities, which are located in Mammendorf and Lauterhofen. have been purchased from Steinbeis Holding and the Abel Group and together add an annual output capacity of 80 GWh to the company’s operations.

The acquisition marks a significant step in Biogeen’s strategy to increase biogas production across southern Germany.

The Mammendorf site, in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck, has been operational for over a decade and feeds into the regional gas grid managed by Bayernets.

The Lauterhofen plant, based in the Neumarkt district, offers further geographic reach and resource capacity as the company looks to scale up sustainable gas output.

In a statement, Biogeen said the move reinforces its long-term commitment to investing in clean energy infrastructure and supporting Germany’s national climate targets.

The company is expected to integrate the two new sites into its existing network over the coming months.

With Germany pushing to expand its green gas supply and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, Biogeen’s latest investment demonstrates growing momentum in the biomethane sector and the increasing role of decentralised renewable energy solutions.
