Biogas plant planned for Oz

The Colac Power Company, a joint venture between biological farming firm Camperdown Compost Company and green electricity developer Diamond Energy, is to build a biogas plant in the town of Colac, Victoria, Australia.

The Victorian government has awarded the project with a $1.5 million (€1.2 million) grant to help build the plant. Once construction has been completed it will process organic waste from dairy, meet and other agricultural industries.

The plant has been estimated to process around 80 tonnes of liquefied waste each day, generating 1MW of electricity. This is enough to supply 2,000 homes with power.
