Austrian firm to open its first biogas plant in South Korea

Austrian biogas plant manufacturer Biogest is to build its first biogas plant in South Korea. The project, developed in cooperation with HC Energy, will expand the company’s international portfolio.

HC Energy is a South Korean company with more than 10 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. The company will work with the City Government and the Agricultural Technology Center in Changwon to develop the project.

The new plant will be located close to a pig farm and the waste will be delivered via an organic waste collection point. The Biogest PowerCompact biogas plant will produce electricity and thermal energy.

Biogest previously won the UK AD & Biogas Industry Award for ‘Best International Micro-Sale Plant’ with its PowerCompact technology.
