With a vision to generate £20 million (€24.3 million) in annual sales from its biogas plants, Alkane Energy, a UK-based producer of electricity, is looking to open two or three biogas-powered power plants each year from 2012 onwards.

The company has already applied for planning permission for a waste-to-power plant in Derbyshire and is also looking for partners to venture with on corn- and sugar beet-based projects.

At 11.46am on 8 September 2010 Alkane’s shares fell to £0.15, with a market value of £13.9 million. Its net income for the first six months of 2010 is £783,000, after falling 35% since the same period last year.
