GROTEL GmbH has launched SaniTarp®, a patented concrete refurbishment membrane designed to protect biogas tanks from corrosion caused by aggressive gases such as hydrogen sulphide.
The retrofit membrane extends the service life of fermenters, secondary digesters and digestate storage tanks whilst reducing downtime and increasing the economic efficiency of biogas plants.
Addressing critical infrastructure challenges
Insufficiently protected concrete in biogas tanks can lead to severe damage, spalling and costly operational interruptions. SaniTarp® enables operators to refurbish existing tanks and resume plant operations shortly afterwards, thanks to quick and straightforward installation that can be completed in all weather conditions without prolonged shutdowns.
Technical specifications
The membrane comprises a gas-tight, chemically resistant polypropylene coating on a stable fabric backing. It protects the tank wall, supports and crown, offering thermal robustness and durability with professionally welded joints that ensure permanent sealing, as verified by the Fraunhofer Institute.
