NewYork GreenCloud to launch biomass-powered AI factory with California acquisition

The site will combine biomass-to-pyrolysis energy systems with behind-the-meter, liquid-cooled AI computing infrastructure, enabling high-performance artificial intelligence workloads to be powered by renewable, baseload energy.
“The Buena Vista Biomass Power facility is the beginning of a national platform of carbon-negative AI Factories,” said Joe Church, Chief Executive Officer of NewYork GreenCloud. “This facility will allow us to deliver high-performance compute with a dramatically lower carbon footprint.”
The redevelopment of the site is being led jointly by NYGC and BucSha Energy, its biomass-to-pyrolysis engineering partner.
The existing 18 MW biomass power plant will be expanded and converted into a 41 MW facility, designed to supply an on-site AI factory with continuous renewable power capable of supporting next-generation GPU clusters.
Dave Shaffer, Founder of BucSha Energy, said the focus on local resources was central to the project’s sustainability. “By focusing exclusively on regional biomass, we create a clean, stable and scalable energy source that can power modern AI infrastructure.”
Impact Capital Partners advised on the capital strategy and financing pathways for the transaction. Sandy Goodman, Managing Partner at the firm, described the acquisition as “a blueprint for scalable, sustainable compute”.
