112 MW biomass plant starts operations in Aichi, Japan
A new 112-megawatt biomass power facility has officially begun operations in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture in Japan.
The project, known as the Tahara Biomass Power Plant, was developed through a partnership led by JFE Engineering, a subsidiary of JFE Holdings.
The venture also includes Tokyo Century Corporation, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
According to project partners, the plant will run primarily on imported wood pellets and is expected to produce roughly 770 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year - enough to supply about 250,000 households.
Ownership of the facility is split among the companies, with JFE Engineering and Chubu Electric Power each holding 40%, while Toho Gas and Tokyo Century each control 10%.
Lithuania's Citrone dairy farm is getting one of the Baltic region's most significant biogas upgrades – and it's set to transform how the country handles agricultural waste.
