Explosion at 215MWe Belgium facility

On 27 January, an explosion at Electrabel's biomass-powered plant has damaged the facility, the company has confirmed.

The explosion, which caused a fire to break out, happened in one of three biomass silos used to store feedstock for the Max Green plant in Ghent, Belgium.

Emergency services responded and the fire was brought under control. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the reason for the explosion is underway.

The facility, which has a capacity of 215MW of electricity, is still producing power.
