New High Solids Anaerobic Digester in Canada

Edmonton Maple Reinders has completed construction of the High Solids Anaerobic Digester at the Edmonton Waste Centre.

The Canadian facility has been commissioned and handed over to the City of Edmonton. It is designed to integrate into the existing processing and transfer facility and will be able to process up to 48,000 tonnes of organic waste per year.

The digester is a design-build construction management project for the City of Edmonton, and methane generated by the facility will be used to generate both electricity and heat for the waste management centre as well as producing high-quality compost.

Two other municipal organics high solids anaerobic digesters have previously been designed by Maple Reinders, the Anaerobic Digestion Facility at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre, as well as, Energy Garden in Richmond, B.C.
