Maurice Markerink, born in 1982, holds a Master Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from the University of Groningen. He wrote his Master Thesis with a focus on the comparison of the financial feasibility of US and Indian Biogas projects.

Maurice started in EnviTec Biogas AG in 2008 and was responsible for the international project development in which he developed, acquired and realized biogas projects in France, Belgium and UK. Within his role, he was director at several biogas plants owned and operated by EnviTec Biogas.

Since 2017, he is responsible for Business Development within the EnviTec Anlagenbau, defining its strategy for new market developments abroad to support the development and realization of new Biogas, Biomethane and Bio-LNG projects.

In the recent years, he has been responsible for a.o. the development in the Danish Biogas market in which EnviTec has built large scale biogas plants with sizes up to 2400 Nm3/h of Biomethane.

Under his lead, Krieg & Fischer Ingenieure has done engineering for projects all over the world with main focus on Europe, North America and Japan, gathering more than 160 references.

Thomas Siegmund has more than 20 years of experience in the bioenergy sector. He was deputy secretary general of the German bioenergy umbrella organization BBE and managing director of the German Wood Energy Association FVH. As an expert on sustainable biomass supply chains, Thomas was also an adviser in several committees of the industry and the government, and has pushed forward the issue of responsible and sustainable biomass use within the bioenergy sector. As Vice President of Bioenergy Europe, Thomas followed closely the discussions on the RED II and is now in charge of translating the requirements into a viable solution for the industry such as the SURE certification.

She was previously Head of Gas and Green Gas at corporate functions leading on topics related to strategy and industrialization of biomethane and BD support oversight. She joined ENGIE in 2010 in its storage subsidiary Storengy.

Marta has a 20-year experience in the gas business, with strong strategic and regulatory focus, in particular in infrastructures and green gases. She started her career at POGC before moving to Brussels-based Gas Infrastructure Europe.

Marta is member of the Company Advisory Board of European Biogas Association. She is also part of the Council of the World Biogas Association.

A practising lawyer for 10 years, Charlotte Morton studied for her MBA at London Business School before setting up a car club business. Asked to establish the business side of the UK Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association in 2009, she saw the potential of an industry that can deliver huge potential and value to the UK. Given the even bigger global potential, which must be achieved if the Paris Climate Change targets and UN Sustainable Development Goals are to be met, Charlotte played a pivotal role in establishing the World Biogas Association in 2016 to promote and increase the rate of uptake of biogas globally. Charlotte is also on the board of Green Gas Trading Ltd, which runs the Biomethane Certification Scheme.

Zoltan Elek graduated from the Technical University of Munich after completing a degree in Electrical Engineering, where he majored in Energy Technology. After working for notable names such as E.ON Engineering, Stadtwerke München public utility company, and McKinsey & Company, Mr. Elek founded Landwärme in 2007 and is now the managing director of the Germany-based company. Landwärme is a biomethane supplier active in the European market. With a trading portfolio of more than 2.5 TWh, the company is the leading biomethane trader in Europe today. Besides trading, Landwärme also plans and operates biogas upgrading plants and offers services along the entire biomethane value chain.

Not only is Mr. Elek’s company a pioneer in the German market, it is also building bridges between Eastern and Western Europe and doing away with obstacles that currently stand in the way of an integrated European market for renewable gas. Landwärme played a vital role in the successful implementation of the first Eastern European biomethane plant in Hungary, for example.

In all, Mr. Elek offers a wealth of experience in, and well-founded knowledge of, the biomethane industry and markets in Europe. He was responsible for the gas transmission business and connection to it was cut when gas transmission business unit was unbundled from Gasum. Currently he is in the director position in biogas business unit in Gasum being responsible for biogas production. Task covers the biogas plant operations, feedstock sourcing, digestate recycling and biogas processing and biomethane deliveries via several logistical means and routes. Gasum’s biogas plant fleet consists of 20 plants in Nordics. Ari is a board member of Finnish Biocycle and Biogas Association and Finnish Environmental Industries organization.
