Rice husk-fuelled biomass project launched in Myanmar

Japanese construction firm Fujita Corp. has announced that it will develop a 1.8MW biomass power project fuelled with rice husk in Myanmar.

Fujita will be working with its partner Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corp.(MAPCO) on the project and will work on the scheme through a newly-created joint venture called Myaung Mya FM Biomass Power to under. Fujita has an 80% stake in that project.

Rice farming is one of the main industries in Myanmar and it is flourishing in the Ayeyarwaddy Region.

Located in the Ayeyarwaddy Region, the Rice Husk Power Generation PJ, as it is named, will use rice husk produced from local mills, which have been facing problems when it comes to their stable operation and quality assurance due to power shortages.

The biomass park will have an estimated annual output of approximately 12.79 million kWh. Fujita Corp. will be in charge of the design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works of the plant, the company maintained in a statement.
